About the Artist

Nikki Hoff

Nikki Hoff is a Monterey-based watercolorist, sculptor, and charcoalist who has called this area home for 15 years. Her work captures the surrounding natural beauty; Hoff's art embodies this theme, offering a contemplative journey through familiar landscapes and structures that resonate with personal and collective histories. She is known for her contemporary and eclectic charcoal and acrylic works; her unique perspective transforms familiar subjects into thought-provoking reflections. Her art invites deep contemplation. Nikki Hoff is also a well-known watercolorist in the Monterey Bay area. She has artwork in the Santa Cruz and Capitola areas. We invite you to immerse yourself in our collections and reflect on how art connects us to our past and present, resonating with our shared experiences.

Nikki is a past event director for the Central Coast Art Association and part of other art collectives. Volunteering time to contribute to the local art scene and promote creativity. "Reaching out to the local community to coordinate events for artists is very rewarding."

Nikki Hoff's "The Loft" was selected for the Monterey Museum of Art's Biennial Exhibit. This exhibition celebrates the diversity and innovation of Central California artists, aligning with the mission to showcase the region's rich artistic talent. The theme for the 2025 Biennial Exhibition is "Resonance and Reflection," with submissions that explore how art resonates within cultural, social, and personal contexts, reflecting both interior and exterior worlds.

"Reflections, her first gallery, has about a dozen of her pieces, mostly paintings, and her work also is on exhibit at three local eat-eries: Osteria Al Mare and Piccolo - both on the Coast Guard Pier — and Woody's at the Monterey Regional Airport. She's a member of the Central Coast Art Association, where she volunteers as the event director.

"I really didn't know much about the Monterey Peninsula before I moved here," she said. "I fell in love with the beauty right away, of course, and it's wonderful to be able to engage with so many artists, find out what kind of work they do and talk to them about how their brains work. My brain is hardwired a little differently, so I learn a lot." Like her charcoal sketches, Hoff's paintings also titillate the viewer's curiosity, leaving much unsaid, encouraging speculation. Images of her drawings, paintings and a sculpture, Ballerina, along with additional information can be found at nikkihoff.com.
